New Directions Housing Corporation is accredited to teach EPA’s Certified Lead Renovator Class in Kentucky

New Directions Housing Corporation will launch its EPA-certified Lead Renovator classes beginning March 16, 2010. The Lead Renovator course completion is part of compliance requirements of the EPA’s new Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rule.

The RRP Rule becomes effective April 22, 2010, and requires EPA certification for contractors performing renovation, repair, and painting activities in all homes, or “child-occupied” facilities such as schools and daycare centers built before 1978. This includes remodelers, painters, plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, etc.

The rule applies to any and all paid renovators who may disturb more than 6 square feet of a potentially lead coated surface (per room) inside a home or building, or 20 square feet outside. Any project covered by the rule requires supervision and management by an EPA-certified Renovator

The next 8-hour EPA-certified Renovator class is scheduled for December 16th. Classes will be held at the New Directions Housing Corporation Conference Center, 1000 E. Liberty ( Liberty and Wenzel, in the Phoenix Hill neighborhood). Future classes are planned. Space is currently available in each of these classes.
