Community Building and Engagement
New Directions holds the belief that increased civic involvement leads to increased investment in our neighborhoods. We work directly with grassroots leaders and stakeholders to strengthen neighborhood-based organizations and increase citizen participation in revitalization. Together with residents, we make positive change occur in their neighborhoods.
Programs focus on increased neighborhood safety and empowerment, including neighborhood housing quality and peer leadership development.
Our Neighborhood Roundtable is a think tank of experienced grassroots volunteers who meet six times a year to help each other increase neighborhood safety and access to services, such as:
- Business/Merchant Relationships
- Clean-up Projects
- Community Outreach and Organizing
- Community Planning
- Landscape and Neighborhood Beautification
- Leadership Training
- Neighborhood / Resident Crime Watch
- Neighborhood Associations
- Neighborhood Festivals
- Tenant Organizing
