New Directions partners with Harambee Health Center to increase access to quality health care for our residents.
Nurse Practitioners visit our rental housing communities and provide health and wellness coaching free of charge to our residents. They help families and individuals navigate topics like insurance and medical care and are able to help with topics such as smoking cessation, managing chronic health problems, and preventing diabetes. Recent help from Passport has enabled New Directions to expand these discussions with residents.
New Directions links Green Goals with city-wide health initiatives to eat healthy. Urban raised-bed gardens are found at two of our rental housing complexes and another is under way in the Midtown Neighborhood in New Albany.
Louisville-located gardens, planted and maintained with the assistance of the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension and Louisville Master Gardeners, provide fresh fruits and vegetables to our communities.
