The new I Rise program from New Directions seeks to help remove the barriers to self-sufficiency and financial stability for low-income families and communities.
About I Rise
Our residents know that saving money and getting ahead is difficult and sometimes impossible, but I Rise can help you build a more stable financial future.
How it works
When you or someone in your household increases their income, the price of your rent also increases. But with I Rise, the rent increase will provide a basis for determining the amount to be deposited in an interest-bearing savings account for your family.
Families who enroll in I Rise work with their coach to develop financial and other goals, like education, job training, long-term savings, and even homeownership. These goals are accomplished over three-to-five years. Upon graduation, if your family has met its goals, you’re eligible to receive the accumulated funds in the savings account.
How to qualify
- Be a current New Directions resident with Project-Based Section 8 subsidy or Housing Choice Voucher.
- Be willing and able to work.
- Be a tenant in good standing as determined by your property manager.
- Participate in New Directions SHINE Academy (virtual series)
